the creature of affliction

unravel the threads of her home

allow it to crumble and plummet

like sandcastles battered by the seas

kick down the folds of her fort

she built out of wintry snow

blow out the candles on her cake

before she ever makes a wish

the eyes of a child search for light

even in the bleakest of hearts

but when a heart bleeds black

it is bound to stain another
